We have so many insightful and powerful diaries written here at Daily Kos. Our diaries inform, inflame, impassion, and even entertain. We Kossacks have strong voices and an even stronger will to be the change we wish to see in this country.
One of the richest, and perhaps most under-appreciated, areas of thought come in the form of comments attached to these diaries.
Here at Top Comments we strive to recognize and promote the talent of this community by highlighting outstanding comments found throughout the day by the diarist, and through nominations at made at topcomments at gmail dot com by your fellow Kossacks.
These nominations are subjective, and certainly not complete (as no one can read the complete site on a daily basis!). But hopefully they will serve to shine a light where deserved, and to give the reader a good starting point in finding conversation on the site.

Welcome to the adult swim!
OK, may I say that I'm really glad I had the diary today; otherwise I would have completely forgotten about Mother's Day.
I'm usually not that bad about remembering holidays (Hallmark-generated or otherwise) but this one's a sore subject with me, having the extraordinarily bad luck to have chosen a biological mother who played favorites and counted coup. I was fortunate in that I had a loving and kind stepmother who taught me about unconditional love before it was too late. Regardless of our separate histories, I thank them both. Each taught me a great deal about life, in their own way.
Reading the site today I saw a great many comments from Kossacks, honoring the mothers in their lives. I've selected a few, below, to share.
Not too much chatter from me; I'm tired from overwork and the sick! :) But I had great fun reading the site after a few weeks' absence and I've missed you all terribly, so let's go on to the comments.

This is the first time that I've sent in a suggestion - I hope I'm not sending this too late in the day. It's a great sardonic comment by LNK

From there, sheryle and Superpole get into a good discussion.

From BeninSC:
This comment, by Loquatrix, tries to placate a commenter upset about what I thought was an exceptionally fine FP diary by SusanG. I thought it was simply an excellent comment, and am happy to recommend it to the TC community, along with Susan's diary!
From fellow traveler CSKendrick:
