Debra Bowen's thrown her hat into the ring for CA-36's Congressional seat:
I have some exciting news and I wanted to share it directly with you: I’ve decided to run for Congress in the 36th District!

Secretary of State Debra Bowen will announce later today that she is running for Congress, according to a source familiar with her decision.Update at 11:09 a.m: It's official. "I'm in," Bowen said in a statement released a few minutes ago.
Though she said she has enjoyed her work on election protection, she wants to address "crucial challenges at the national level" including creating jobs and "jump-starting our struggling economy."
She's got some competition in Jessica Hahn (and Marcy Winograd, if she chooses to run). There's been some commentary that Debra may have taken too long to announce -- Hahn has already picked up some top-level endorsements.
But honestly, I couldn't be happier. I'm torn that we won't have her clear vision at the State Department, but believe she can make a difference in Washington.
